Attention ParentsGood evening: Current 6th and 7th grade students that are interested in taking music next school year need to pick up an application in the counselor’s office beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, April 24th. There is a limit of 100 students. Students will be enrolled on a first come, first served basis. Cards will be time stamped. Deadline is Friday, May 4, 2018. Pathways Open EnrollmentDrawing ClubSpelling BeeMacy’s Annual Spelling Bee was held on February 13, 2018 in the library. Our first prize winner was Temoc Rojas. Lana Osumo came in second place. Both students will go on to represent Macy at the District Spelling Bee on February 28, 2018. Math CompetitionThis past weekend, February 3rd, a group of Macy Intermediate students earned a 2nd place finish at the 46th Annual Bosco Tech Math Competition. Mr. Kelly prepared a group of 5 students for the competition in a variety of mathematical topics.

Beautifying Our CommunityOn Saturday April 29th 8th graders Juliana De la Sierra, Ximena Hernandez-Malpica, Christina To, & Ashley Wu along with our Art teacher Mrs. Buckhorn painted the electric box located on Elmgate & Garfield in the city of Monterey Park. Adelante Mujer LatinaFifty Macy girls in grades 6th- 8th were able to attend the Adelante Mujer Conference at Pasadena City College on Saturday, April 20, 2017. This was a district sponsored field trip. Students were able to attend workshops presented by professional women who work in various careers such as law, entertainment, education, business and health. A few of our girls got the opportunity to dissect a heart with the guidance of a team of female doctors. The conference also provided information to parents on college , motivation and financial aid. Character CountsCharacter Counts! is a "nonpartisan, nonsectarian coalition of schools, communities, and nonprofit organizations working to advance character education by teaching the Six Pillars of Character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship". On March 30, 2017, all Macy staff participated in a professional development for Character Counts.
Adelante Young Men's ConferenceOn Saturday, Nov 12th, Macy Intermediate took over 65 boys to the Adelante Young Men's Conference held at Pasadena City College. Our young men were able to attend workshops on various careers, personal development, and motivation. We look forward to taking the girls to the Adelante Mujer Conference in April. Grades of Green Arrives at MacyGrades of Green offers 40+ Grades of Green Activities aimed to instill environmental values in students. Whether you want to concentrate on conserving air, energy, waste, water, or toxins, Grades of Green has an array of activities that will help protect the environment today while instilling environmental values in students for years to come.
