On Tuesday, June 24, 2014 Macy families, community members, teachers, Support Staff and Administration gathered on the Macy Steps to celebrate the many accomplishments of the 8th Grade Class of 2014. Principal Arregui welcomed everyone in attendance and emphasized that the success of all of our 8th Graders is a result of community effort, where all stakeholders come together to actively create the best possible learning environment for all learners at Macy Intermediate School.

Students were recognized in the following areas: Porfolio Completion, Exemplary Portfolio Performance, Perfect Attendance, Principal's Honor Roll, Presidential Awards, Excellence in Science, Math, PE, Language Arts and Electives, and Overall Improvement and more. Over 95% of Macy's 8th Grade students were recognized for completion of their Portfolio presentations. In these Portfolio presentations, every 8th Grade student is required to present and articulate the significance of work samples completed throughout their tenure at Macy Intermediate School. Students dress professionally, and their presentations mimic the experience of a job interview. 8th Grade students and their teachers diligently worked together to prepare for this Macy tradition.

We wish all of our 8th Graders well as they embark upon the next steps in their educational journey, and as Mr. Arregui stated, we "eagerly anticipate continuing to hear about their many accomplishments as they move on to High School and beyond." Congratulations, 8th Grade Class of 2014--we expect great things from you!
