Principal's Message

I am honored to continue to serve Macy Intermediate School as your principal. I am excited for what 2016-17 has in store for our school and continuing to serve every student, every day with integrity, compassion, and equity.

First, please join me in welcoming Ms. Chao, Ms. Remedios, and Ms. Daugherty to our teaching staff.

Second, I would like to take a moment to share some initiatives and changes that were introduced this past school year to better service our students: AVID in sixth grade, SBAC interim assessments, “Say Mean Matter” instructional strategy, School City data system, curriculum-based parent workshops, two lunches, and Monday Morning assemblies.

Third, we will continue to build on last school year as well as expand services to students and parents such as an English Language Development elective, Spanish elective, Peer Counselor program, Grades of Green Club, Olweus bullying prevention program, Character Counts, and Blackboard (replacing Teleparent).

I am confident that together we will continue to maintain a school climate that promotes safety, a high quality education, and the social well-being of every student, every day. I invite you to stop by our school and introduce yourself.

Sincerely,

8th Grade Awards Ceremony

On June 14, 2016, Macy Intermediate recognized a great class of 8th graders. While our staff is excited to see them start their next adventure, we are also a little sad to watch our young knights walk out those doors.

Career Day

On March 11, 2016, Macy held its annual career day.  We had over 35 speakers volunteer to speak at our event representing careers in business, law, entertainment, science, education, art, and technology. Every class had the opportunity to listen to at least four speakers. Faculty and staff were also able to mix and mingle with our presenters during school breaks. PTA, ASB and Starbucks donated to our event. Students enjoyed having this time to learn about various careers. All the speakers seems to agree that their ladders to success included passion and hard work.

NEW DROUGHT CONSCIOUS LANDSCAPING BRINGS NEW LOOK AND FOSTERS DROUGHT AWARENESS AT MACY

In the effort to reflect more drought-conscious landscaping, and to raise awareness of the drought that is affecting California, Macy has proudly unveiled a newly landscaped area in front of our Main Office. Through a very generous grant received from the San Gabriel Valley Water District, Macy was able to remove the front lawn, and opt for plants and foliage that required less watering and maintenance. A pathway was  also created at the front of this new area so that students and their families are able to more easily access and enjoy our new plants and flowers.

We welcome you to visit us throughout the summer and enjoy the plants, flowers and scenery that the front of our school now offers. Many thanks to the San Gabriel Water District, and to the Montebello Unified School District for providing our school with this drought-conscious makeover!
